Will Gov. Perry wreck another distracted driving measure?

The Dallas Mornig News -- We’ve all done it. Pecked out an occasional “ok” or “be there at 6:30? while driving. In fact, a few of us have replace hunt-and-peck texting with voice command texting, the next best thing to the texting version of a hands-free conversation.

That’s why I glad that there will another push for state-wdie distracted driving legislation. It’s such logical legislation who could possibly be against it?

Unfortunately, the man whose signature counts — Gov. Rick Perry, who vetoed a similar measure two years ago — I’m afraid will do it again.

At least 39 states already ban texting behind the wheel. But not Texas.

Many people text and drive distracted all the time and will continue to do so – law or no law! Drive vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

My only accident in 38 years was a drunk driver who had 5 DUI'S on his record. Why doesn't Hussein protect citizens from drunk drivers? More kids are killed by drunks than guns. Drunk drivers are easy to eliminate.

This is just like conferring with someone that is riding with you, but no texting or holding a phone up to your ear.
