Mercedes to present futuristic Ener-G-Force hydrogen fuel-cell-powered SUV at Los Angeles Design Cha

NY Daily News -- Mercedes will unveil its hydrogen fuel-cell-powered Ener-G-Force sports utility vehicle at the Los Angeles Design Challenge in December. The car will have a 500 mile range using a hydrogen fuel cell that uses recycled water to send powers to the car's motors.

Mercedes is presenting a futuristic hydrogen fuel-cell-powered SUV concept in a challenge for automotive designers hosted by The Los Angeles Auto Show, running from November 30 to December 9.

The German automaker imagined a spectacularly innovative SUV: the Mercedes Ener-G-Force provides a few hints as to the direction in which tomorrow's off-roaders are headed -- ever 'greener' and fully loaded.

Its power comes from a hydrogen fuel cell system that generates fuel from recycled water stored in rooftop tanks and sends power to the m

As I've said elsewhere (maybe in this thread?) yesterday:

If hydrogen is the fuel of the future, it's the far future.

Hydrogen requires multiple breakthroughs and infrastructure development before it could take off.

Contrast with the real fuel of the future -- natural gas. The pipeline structure is in place, today, and the technology is here, today. All that's lacking are fueling stations, which is easily remedied, especially as more fleet owners and then individual owners buy NG cars and trucks.

Mercedes to present futuristic Ener-G-Force hydrogen fuel-cell-powered SUV at Los Angeles Design Challenge. Hydrogen is very expensive to make and usually requires a hydrocarbon of some sort. If producing hydrogen on the vehicle is sufficent to fuel the car, then so be it. Would like to see this vehicle operate on the road, in the real world and be able to keep this vehicle FUELED!
My current vehicle was paid off many years ago and I don't need any car payments now! I will drive my current vehicle into the ground before buying anything new, used, EV, Inbred, diesel, hydrogen, alternative fuel, CNG, concept and certainly not a Prius, Tesla, Leaf, Volt or an NYC/Sandy Special 'exploding submarine' Fiskar Karma Inbred!
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, vehicle manufactures Produce and the population ‘Drives’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

I hope it is successful as this is the hydrogen concept that was suggested in the mid 1950's in North America.
