freeze congress but gov workers have been frozen two years and deserve a raise. People who dont know would be shocked at how much more is done with less by gov employees.

It would be much more impressive to vote to delete their privileges (the Congressmen and the Senators) beyond any normal person's. Any law that applies to normal people applies to them too including this one.

The salaries for Congress, the President and all Cabinet/Department Secretaries (and their under secretaries) should be cut at least 25%.

The bad part is that the same people who have zero clue how Congress and the economy work are the ones the Congresscritters are trying to impress. A lot of these people aren't even literat. (See some previous posters in this thread.)

Good for now to freeze congress pay. They need to get the IRS computer system in order and collect back taxes and stay ahead moving forward. They are at least 3 years behind in reporting. Although not popular I would say a small use tax, or national sales tax would be in order for all. However spending has to come in line and only spend what hey receive. That is going to be a tough one and a lot of cuts are needed.

Very glad they had enough sense to freeze their own pay, but there are some much lower paid federal employess thay may need an increase. We'll hear a lot more about this.

I applaud the few democrats that voted for the measure here. It is highly inappropriate for an august body such as our congress to sanction giving themselves raises in view of all the waste being propogated there while the rest of the country is still reeling from the loss of wages in recent years as concessions have wracked workers wages accross the country. To have approved the pay increace would be highly hipocritical.
