GE gas engine power first LNG-fuelled rig in unconventional gas field

Gas to Power Journal -- Two of GE's Jenbacher gas engines have been installed to power the first liquefied natural gas (LNG)-fuelled drilling rigs in the Marcellus Shale region of Pennsylvania. Seneca Ressources Corp. converted the power plants of two existing diesel-powered rigs to use cleaner-burning LNG in GE's 1-megawatt Jenbacher J320 turbocharged natural gas engines.

Roger George, GE Power & Water's North America GM gas engines, said the fuel-flexible Jenbacher gas engine technology offers customers lower-emission on-site power generating capabilities. The installation of J320 gas engines to support Seneca Resources and Ensign Drilling's LNG initiative could "serve as a model for other operators in the Marcellus Shale region," he forecast.

CNG and LNG are just compressed Natural Gas, compressed and chilled into a liquid form in LNG!

CNG and LNG pound for pound contain the same # of BTU's. Lng is Cng is ng.... SO end your physics refresher. Quiz tomorrow....

As we use other, the price of oil products may not come down, as they will be shipped off to those that still use them for a higher profit.

I think you exaggerate. There are only 85,000 coal miners in all of the U.S. Retrain them to drill for natural gas and they won't have to go down into the mines anymore.
