Businesses hoping to receive funding through natural gas grant

WJACTV -- On Dec. 1 it was announced that the Department of Environmental Protection in Pennsylvania would be offering grants to businesses interested in purchasing or converting vehicles to use compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquified natural gas (LNG).

Through Act 13's impact fee, a new three year Natural Gas Energy Development plan was made available through the DEP.

Over the next three years, this new program will make $20 million in grant funds available for businesses to purchase or convert vehicles.

According to the DEP, the money will be allocated on a fiscal year basis.

During the 2012-2013 period, $10 million will be awarded. Officials said $5 million will be available for local transportation agencies.

build more stations. w/ one or two stations in a town and nothing for 100 miles, it's hard to decide to buy such a vehicle.

More government spending...makes me sick! They just don't get it... However, this is the taxpayer's fault. They re-elected the same idiot that added $6 trillion to our national debt in 4 years.

If it is profitable, economical, practical and affordable to implement it will work without grants. Grants only assure one thing, the tax payers will be on the short end again.

The gov will have to implement grants to get the NG running in autos. But not to worry, they will get it all back plus more after everyone has an auto that is dependent upon it. The gov will then stack fuel taxation on the NG so the retail consumer is ripped in the end.
