Joe I think the Joe I think the kill-a watt cost me about 30 bucks and definitely identified a couple of sources of lost power. Paid for itself in real short order. Some electronics are always drawing some power when plugged in and we all have some and it all adds up. The refrigerator is a major culprit. I found that ours drew more power than it was supposed to but that still low by comparison to it peers of 1997 at least. Cleaning the coils of the fuzz from the Kitty definitely saved some power.

One thing to check is your refrigerator. Which I forgot to mention as it is supposed to be the largest or second largest loads. You got to clean the coils. Kitty hair collects there and clogs em up. Some years ago I invested in a device called a Kill-a-watt. It is an watt-hour meter that you can plug into some power consumer and actually measure its consumption of power over time. Our reefer turns out to be one of the more efficient ones even though it dates from1997. Reefers with all of the gadgets and double doors eat lots of power better to go with smaller, simpler ones cheaper too! I save a lot with the laptop over the old desktop too.

I'm laughing about your Vette comments. They really are old men cars. The only time they were really hot was when George Michaels had one in his "Careless Whisper" video, Then, he just wasn't as sexy after he came out as gay. I was parked by a really sweet white Tesla downtown last week. My son says he sees it frequently which makes since because I was in a parking lot a block from his office and garage. Glad you got out this weekend. I watched basketball and did a little stuff in the yard, but it was cold and windy. Yes, I'm a lightweight when it comes to cool weather ~ lol! Hope you have great week.

We don't have much electric load just circulating pump in the furnace, a couple of vent fans, we have an AC but a window unit that has not been used since 2011, TV, stereo, lights mostly cfls and some LEDs with a very few halogens, 3 sump pumps, a clothes washer, an electric drier, a computer laptop and some infrequently used radios. Most of the load is handled by gas- hot water, hot water heating system, stove so I am guessing that SolarCity matched expected load to the system and so it is matched. Would like more load as solar electric though and probably could fit some more to the house. An addition of a couple of rooms would be nice and we could get another 2 or 3 kw. Dream on....

Times are not hard for the 1% and are likely getting somewhat better for the working poor! Tesla is selling cars to those that can shell out some serious money. BTW we got a bit more snow for a total of a tad more than 110 inches for the winter. This winter will live on in infamy..... along with the blizzard of '78!

More snow today in Beantown it may snow all day and may or may not stick.....

Nukes are not green! Plutonium is forever! Not many know that the entire plant becomes various levels of nuclear waste at the end of life. We only need one nuclear plant and we have had that one since the beginning. All that needs to be done is to harness it properly. BTW Dire Straights is one of my all-time favorites. Sultans of Swing is no doubt one of the great albums. All of the tracks on that album are great. It is great road music though I always drive about 10 mph faster when it is playing!
