electronic problems are the most difficult to repeat, not surprised they have forgotten those who have died due to this problem. Makes you wonder what else they sacrificed to get to the top, thanks to our media and the anti american buyers

Kind of a good example that disproves the hoax theory.

It does seem excessive to keep reporting on an alleged problem by starting to describe the personal emotions of the victims to solicit an emotional response against the scapegoat whether it is Toyota, evil hard-hearted Republicans, or Jews, who are the cause of all our problems in Obama's America or Nazi Germany.

Driving is dangerous. Your chances of accidental death increase every time you get into a car. It may be due to your driving, the other guy's driving, mechanical failure, earthquake, weather, snipers, etc.

My God, the rubbish journalism is at flood stage. While auto fatalities are always tragic to family and friends left behind, reciting a list of them that involved Toyotas hardly constitutes finding a problem. As has been frequently pointed out, brakes have conclusively been shown to be able to brake Toyotas and other tested cars to a stop safely regardless of the throttle being wide open.

This points to driver error as a primary cause of these incidents, much as was shown to be the case with Audi 5000's and supposed "unintended acceleration" back in the 80's - drivers hitting the gas instead of the brakes, and holding it because they believe they've hit the brakes, despite evidence to the contrary. No evidence has emerged of Toyotas, or other cars surging of their own accord to WOT, the issues identified have been sticking throttle linkages (slow return), and floor mats getting caught on the pedals (aftermarket, not Toyota floormats, at that). These incidents only ever happen with automatic transmission cars (of all brands). Because in a standard transmission car, the driver constantly has to coordinate both feet with 3 pedals - and if they make a mistake with the right foot on the gas and brake, the left can and naturally would stab the clutch and end "unintentional" acceleration. Which could be done by these Toyota and other drivers, by either taking their foot off the gas, or shifting to neutral - or even using the brake to stop the car, even with the throttle wide-open, as shown by Car and Driver in a test of a Camry just like the one the California cop died in.

Diesel_Ram: Speaking from experience (I've had a throttle stick) when you are in the "Heat of the Moment", you are more worried about avoiding other cars and trying to get the throttle unstuck to think about shutting off the key. It is really the "Last" think that crosses your mind because it is not a normal thing to do. Once you have had a throttle stick and you finally figured out to shut the key off, it is the first thing you think of if/when it happens again. Unfortunately, some people never get a second chance to see if they remember.

I feel bad that this incident took place, but to ease the pain on everyone, lets just blame Toyota for every accident now and previously. While you have them down on the ropes, just stomp them good. It seems now that no one is at fault in anything except Toyota.

I still don't understand with that much time why they didn't just turn the vehicle off or put it in neutral?

Sad loss.

Fix them or get them off the road.

One Toyota driver in Minnesotta is in jail for an accident that may have not been his fault. There is a lot of human damage from all this, and way too few answers.

And Toyota says, "we can't find the problem, so it doesn't exist". Why would ANYONE with HALF A BRAIN ever want to support a company like that?!?!
Yet I see many Toyota drivers defending their crappy cars. But it's time the Gov't step in and not allow any more sales until Toyota truely finds and fixes the problem. I was out driving yesterday, and there are LOTS of these Death traps on the road. What about the people who get hit by one of these run away cars? How many people have been killed when they were not in the Toyota, but got hit by one?

I am so sick of the media hype around the Toyota recalls. There is a lot of wrong information out there. According to tests conducted by Car And Driver magazine. Brakes always win over full throttle acceleration. They tested three different cars including a Camry. The brakes were able to stop a 540 horse power, Roush Stage 3 Mustang going 100 MPH, while at full throttle in 903 feet.

So that latest Prius incident, where the car "took off", and the CHP had to help stop it?? Yeah, the investigators can find nothing wrong with the car. I have a suspicion that Toyota doesn't want to find anything wrong.

There is an issue here and it would be good to figure out what it is. I don't think it's the pedal or floor mat, as the company wants us to believe. There is another issue here at hand. The problem is that this could happen to more cars then just Toyota's, if it is a software problem.

I don't agree that we should stop talking about this. I don't see it a Toyota bashing at this point. I more see it as, Hey there' a problem here, and it could affect a multitude of cars. Lets' figure this out so more people are not injured or killed.

While I agree that these deaths are tragic, I agree that it's time to move on. Toyota will do what they can to cauterize the wound, and I've no doubt they will survive, but we really do need to let them go back to making cars. Leave the lawsuits up to the attorneys, there are plenty of other real news stories to cover.
